Welcome to Honalee

Nancy & Puff enjoy a cool fall afternoon at Honalee

Giant breed dogs have always been part of our lives.  Showing dogs was a childhood dream.  A loving St. Bernard named Fluffy helped us raise our three children.  When Fluffy was older, we got her a canine pal--a Newfoundland named Sam.

Ivanhoe was our first Mastiff.  He introduced us to the special, nearly-human personality of this remarkable breed.  He and his son, Brutus, will live in our hearts forever.

When Brutus passed, our home was empty. For the first time in 17 years, there was no Mastiff. Finally, Donna Bahlman took pity on us and allowed us to share ownership of her 5 month old brindle boy, Ben.  The following year we added our rescue, Lucy.

In 2002, Susie and Bill Krauser blessed us with a futurity-nominated puppy, Pendragon's Puff of Honalee -- then we also had a kennel name. The dream of showing a lovely dog was realized.  We could never have anticipated the thrills that showing Puff would bring us.

With the help of our friend, Carrie Klaiber, the dream continues with Dickens; but we have come to know that the every day joys of sharing our lives with our beloved dogs and the wonderful friends that they have brought into our lives are so much more important than all the awards, recognition, and excitement that showing brings.
